The name "Community Reputation" for the points is a misnomer. A more appropriate term would be "Recent Activity Points" as the score reflects the points generated during the past six weeks only...
Check out this tread on the subject...you are not the only ones to have concern and confusion...
Reputation points and can't see photos.
And you may be correct in your observation that overall posts are down recently. But that is a normal seasonal trend which goes back to days of the old site as well. With the better weather now in most places people are spending less time at their computers and more time doing outdoor activities.

What we see is that some people doesn't post regularly as we do and it seems they keep their points? Especially in the top 20?

Points are earned for lots of things...posting pics are just one of them. Receiving 'Licks' and making comments also earn points. I took a look at the top contributors and most of them are regulars that post often...and respond to feedback. There are a few people on that list that don't post a lot, but they have a large following and usually receive a lot of licks and feedback when they do. Remember also that the 'Most Popular Amateurs' list is not ranked...it's a random listing of the higher scoring contributors.

I was worried to see that my "reputation" had suddenly dropped from 4->500 to -146, I presume that it was something to do with the issue of Boobalicious being exposed as a fake. I'd had many long exchanges with her so I guess I'd been getting points for that. But I don't understand how I'd suddenly end up going seriously negative, I would hope I've never offended any of the people who are kind enough to post pictures here.

Ant Eater...have you ever posted any pics and then deleted them from your blog? If so, there is a penalty for removing pics in addition to the loss of the points that the pic earned in the first place. That could easily explain the -195 point total you have. Also, I believe that there is a penalty if any of your comments are removed by the contributor that you've posted them to. So if you've had a conversation with someone in their feedback, and then they have deleted the comments because they were of a private nature, there would be a penalty also, even if the comment was not offensive.
But don't worry about the score unless you plan to post pics soon. If you have a negative balance, your posts will not show up on the general walls, but they will show up to anyone that follows you. If you continue to post comments to other people's pics, you will get one point for every comment...so you should be back positive again soon.

Thanks Jammer, No I've not removed any pictures, I'm not sure I've ever posted any to remove. So I guess that if a comment is removed you can loose more than 1 point. The vast majority of my points would have been for flirting with Boobalicious and since all of those posts have gone, I guess I've been wiped out. I'll just have to post lots of nice comments about all the lovely ladies who post here. Thanks.

If you haven't removed any of your photos, then that score does not sound right. Perhaps you've been penalized because of the removal of Boobalicious's photos. And now that I think about it, there have been a lot of other contributors that have complained about big drops in their scores recently...and now I'm wondering if they may have also been penalized over this Boobalicious thing. I'm going to post an inquiry in the tech support section about this. I wonder if it's possible that when VCity removed her, they inadvertently removed double the points for anyone that had posted comments to her pics.

I beginning to wonder if it's time to drop reputation points all together. I understand why they were originally done, but they seem to be causing much more anxiety and ill-feelings then they are worth.

I did notice that my number of comments went down, I was slightly over 500 and then it dropped to slightly below 500, so I think you might be onto something. If a user deletes their pics, they lose points but if the VC admin deletes and account altogether, does that affect us? It looks like Boobalicious' account being removed has had an affect on all of us that commented on her posts. I guess we have to wait to see what response Jammer gets on the Tech board.
